TRAINING HUBS
Regional SaniPath training hubs are being established at selected institutions that receive training to build capacity in the SaniPath Tool methods. The goal of these training hubs is to make deploying the SaniPath Tool, and microbiological and survey methods in general, more accessible to municipalities and other organizations that would benefit from the evidence and the capacity to collect such data.
The first training hub was established in 2018 in West Africa, led by the Training, Research and Networking for Development (TREND) group in Accra, Ghana with laboratory support from the Water Research Institute (WRI). TREND has led or supported trainings of municipal health and environmental workers in Kumasi, Ghana, Kampala, Uganda, Lusaka, Zambia, and Dakar, Senegal. The training hubs will also play a crucial role in research translation and dissemination to ensure that public health evidence is used to inform sanitation programming and policy.
SaniPath, in partnership with TREND, has conducted several foundational studies in Accra, Ghana. These activities consequently led to the establishment of TREND as a SaniPath Training Hub.

The Hub is experienced in using evidence generated from exposure assessments to support the planning and prioritization of sanitation interventions.
The Hub has experience in community mapping and spatial analysis with various tools, such as GIS.
